  7. Jabberwocky is a client software for the Jabber Instant 
  8. Message Protocol. This is Free Software licensed under
  9. the GNU General Public License.

  11. Jabber is an instant messaging system, similar to ICQ or
  12. AIM, yet far different. It is open source, absolutely free,
  13. simple, fast, extensible, modularized, and cross platform.
  14.  
  15. Server modules (transports) allow cross messaging between
  16. other networks (AIM, ICQ, MSN, IRC, etc).

  18. Changes:
  19. * Support for 8 bit Latin-1 characters.
  20. * Fixed transparency of icons in roster window (thanks to Jeff Gilpin).
  21. * Fixed long standing enforcer hit when removing contacts (also thanks to Jeff
  22.   Gilpin as a side effect of the transparency fix).
  23. * Some support for displaying errors in the roster (but I haven't actually had
  24.   any errors that trigger it, so it either doesn't work, or I haven't had any 
  25.   errors).
  26. * Fixed enforcer hit on startup when autoconnect is on and there is no account
  27.   information (introduced in 1.3).
  28. * Roster displays the event icon until all unread messages have been read.
  29. * Roster icons may be loaded from disk (thanks to Jeff Gilpin).
  30. * Roster icon set by Martin 'Mason' Merz.
  31. * Iconified icons by Jeff Gilpin.
